Unlocking the power of the brain: Insights from Dr. Thomas Zoega Ramsey’s talk on predictive AI and brain science

DAM Day | Trends | AI

Our inspiring speaker, Dr. Thomas Zoëga Ramsøy from Neurons, kicked off our DAM DAY event by unveiling the mysteries of the brain. His engaging presentation not only showcased the brain's incredible capabilities but also emphasized how advancements in science and technology are increasingly enabling us to anticipate human reactions. This is more than just a remarkable scientific achievement—the revolutionary shift can also change how we manage digital assets and engage with audiences.

The brain’s surprising secrets

Dr. Thomas Zoëga Ramsøy didn’t just tell us about the brain; he got the audience involved in hands-on exercises that revealed its surprising quirks and shortcuts. One exercise involved drawing a cross and a dot on a piece of paper, covering one eye, and moving the paper closer until the dot disappeared—demonstrating our natural blind spots. This simple trick highlighted how our brains automatically fill in missing information to create a complete view of the world, often without us noticing.

Thomas explained that this autopilot behavior extends beyond vision to how we make decisions. Much of our thinking happens subconsciously, shaped by patterns that predictive AI can learn to anticipate. It’s this pattern recognition that makes predictive AI so powerful: by analyzing the ways our brains process information, researchers can now forecast how people will respond to digital content, from where their attention will go on a webpage to which images evoke emotional engagement.

Predictive AI in action

Predictive AI, as Thomas described, takes insights from neuroscience and applies them to real-world contexts, allowing us to anticipate how audiences will react to content with remarkable accuracy. Neurons, for example, uses eye-tracking and emotional response data to predict with 95% accuracy where people will look or engage on an image or video—essentially replicating the results of live testing but in seconds rather than weeks.

For content creators, this means knowing how effective a piece of content will be before it’s even released. Imagine uploading an ad and receiving feedback on its predicted engagement level within minutes. Predictive AI’s insights allow brands to tailor their messaging, refine creative elements, and strategically place assets to maximize impact. As Thomas emphasized, it’s about understanding audiences, not manipulating them, and creating content that resonates in meaningful ways.

Transforming DAM with QBank and Neurons

The exciting part for DAM professionals came when Thomas introduced Neurons’ partnership with QBank, where we’re exploring ways to make predictive insights accessible directly within a DAM platform. Together, we’re working toward a future where QBank users could upload digital assets and receive instant, AI-driven feedback on potential engagement, attention hotspots, and brand consistency.

Here’s a look at what this integration could offer for digital asset managers and content creators:

  1. Immediate, data-backed insights: With predictive feedback directly in QBank, teams could adapt content quickly, responding to AI-driven insights that show how well an asset aligns with audience expectations.

  2. Optimized content for every platform: Whether it’s social media, a website, or internal channels, QBank’s predictive capabilities would allow brands to ensure that each asset is fine-tuned for the platform it’s intended for. This approach means content consistently meets audience expectations across various digital touchpoints.

  3. Consistency across teams and regions: With real-time feedback on brand alignment, QBank could help maintain a cohesive brand image even for global teams working across different regions. The AI would check assets for adherence to brand guidelines, streamlining workflows and ensuring every piece of content supports the overall brand story.

With QBank and Neurons working together, our goal is to transform DAM from a repository into a tool for smarter, more informed content creation.

An inspiring takeaway: Making content more human

Thomas left us with a powerful message: while the brain’s predictability might seem like a limitation, it’s actually an opportunity. By understanding these patterns, we can craft content that connects more meaningfully with audiences, allowing us to meet people where they are and create experiences that resonate on a deeper level.
